Captcha is so last season!

I received instant negative feedback from Pnuk once I installed a Captcha module to prevent unwanted comments. I've been told that nobody uses it anymore and the version I worked wouldn't do the trick anyway since the text was way too easy to read. Sorry about that :)

Little digging around directed me to AntiSpam module for Drupal. It uses Akismet, TypePad Antispam or Defensio anti-spam service to filter potential comment spam. Don't know yet how good is it, but at least it is way more user friendly and I have to agree that the Captcha was a bit yesterdays thing...

Update: Wasn't so good after all. The module worked like charm for an day and after that it started to prevent all comments. At least for now, the captcha is back at feedback form and basic Drupal registration/login feature is turned on for comments. Your registration details are not used for anything, so feel free to create an account in order to comment.

Update #2: Captcha doesn't seem to be a good solution for preventing bot spam. Antispam module is fixed and back on now.

New site is out

This is kinda like back to blogging business, part #2.

Drupal 7 came out and while playing with it, decided to convert my one page home portal to Drupal based blog site. Site itself is unfinished, tweaking towards perfection will happen later. There are also no promises for better activity, but let's see.

Old posts from Absum.net Toyblog (car/motorcycle stuff) are imported to here, but posts from older Absum.net blog (2001-2004) are not. Comments were dropped too, didn't have the patience to convert them.

Back to blogging business

Summertime seems to be not-so-nerdy time for me. At least websites, blog updating and stuff like that doesn't receive any attention from me. Now the summer here is bygone, bikes are going to winter repository day after tomorrow and life behind the screen can begin again.

A lot has happened since last update. We have moved to the other edge of Finland, Blazer is sold and I don't have a garage where I can build my bike whatsoever. First winter without garage since... I can't even remember! In a way it's quite depressing, but on the other hand it's quite refreshing. Anyway, blog posting continues. From now on posts will contain more wider range of categories and since I should practice my english, that'll mainly be the language. Feel free to correct my grammar or comment funny word clusters appearing here and there.

Few words about VTR. Odometer gain just over 10 000 km this summer and in the process of gaining those kilometers the thing gave me many sore behinds. I didn't have any technical problems with it, Honda seem to work like a WC in train. I didn't learn to drive it well enough to be proud of and a lot of learning has been left for next summer, but still learned enough to book up some track days for next summer. It has also given me a new and odd feeling, something that I haven't ever experienced with bikes before -> in the threshold of winter, I have no intention to sell it or have any ideas of swapping it to better one. So far this is a keeper and as, it's the first bike under my butt holding it's position at least for two summers or more. It's doesn't match up with modern superbikes, it just has the biggest balls of them all. Wonderful piece of machinery :)
